A Wonderful Weekend

We really enjoyed meeting and working with many of our CSA customers this past weekend. Mulching the Blackberries, seeding more than 2000 red cabbages, and planting a pea hut with the smallest of our CSA friends filled our Saturday morning. After a WONDERFUL potluck lunch we planted a few rows of lettuce with some hard working late comers. Although we had a rainy Sunday we had a few people stop in to help plant peas and have a tour of the farm. Thank you for the encouragement of your smiling faces and willing hands. I will post the status of the pea hut throughout the summer for those who don't live close enough to come visit often. We look forward to seeing even more of our members during the late May-early June planting party. We'll keep you posted!

Warm Weather and Spring Cleaning

We've been delighted to enjoy such a wonderfully sunshiny few days! Although we're getting close to seeding the radishes, spinach, and kohl rabi, we've been spending the past week Spring Cleaning the shop. Yesterday Elvie and Rachel finished painting and today we're going to be deep cleaning the floor. We miss all your smiling faces, but think fondly of all of our CSA customers as we erase last year's packing lists and sort out egg cartons and raspberry boxes. Does anyone have a good idea for making a cement floor easier to keep clean? We look forward to hearing from each of you with tips and recipes for us and each other.

New Date for the Pea and Potato Party

Due to the snow still on the fields we feel that the original mid-March date will be too early. It's wet enough to plant rice right now! So we moved the dates to March 27-28. Let's hope we're all dried out by then. Even if it's still wet we will find some fun projects for anyone who wants to come out and join us. We are still planning on the same time (10 am to 2 pm) and request you bring a dish to share for a noon lunch. Even if you can only come for lunch we'd love to see you!

Silver Springs Pick-Up Site

In addition, we also have a pick up on Brisbane St. in Silver Springs. This is not a new site to us, but it is not listed on our Farm's Website. Please visit www.calvertfarm.com to download our reservation form.
